The web is a great source for information of all kinds. This can include lyrics, chords, and other media resources you may want to use within OnSong. Simply use the Safari app on your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and search the internet for content that you want to use.
The content found on the web is often bound by terms of use. Content on the Internet is not necessarily free for you to use in any way you want. Before printing or importing content, make sure to read any terms or licensing information on the website you choose to ensure that you are abiding by the terms of use of the publisher.
How To Import
Once you've enabled the Add To OnSong action, you can perform it to enqueue a web page for import into your OnSong library the next time you open OnSong.
To do this, view a web page that contains content that you want to import. This could be a web page containing lyrics, chord charts, or even whole documents like a PDF file. Locate the icon in the Safari navigation bar that looks like a square with an up arrow and tap. This will open the Share Activity Menu where you can find different ways to share the content. This is where you can add a bookmark or print the web page.
To add the content to OnSong, locate the Add To OnSong action in the list at the bottom of the menu (iOS/iPadOS 13 or newer) or in the list of grayscale icons (iOS 12 or earlier). Tap on this action to add the content to the import queue. Repeat this process for any number of web pages or other content. When finished, simply open OnSong to be prompted to import the content.
How It Works
The Add To OnSong action in Safari tries to determine the best and most suitable content in the web page HTML code to import. For most standard formatted web pages, this should work well, but the availability and quality of the content are dependent on the web site design and terms of use. For instance, a web site may need to protect its content, or just used a strange way to render the lyrics and chords to the page. In that case, OnSong may import the content in ways that are not ideal. You can then use the Song Editor in OnSong to tweak the content to work best in OnSong.
