Here is more detailed information on setting up your Pro account with OnSong 2024.
Having OnSong 2020 is Installed:
When users have OnSong 2020.10 or newer installed on the same device as OnSong 2024.6 and newer, the base tier of OnSong is updated from free to Pro. This means that even without signing into OnSong 2024 users can enjoy their Pro features in the newer version of the app simply by having OnSong 2020 installed. However, if OnSong 2020 is deleted or uninstalled, the user may be unable to use Pro-level features.
Creating an Account in OnSong 2020.10 or newer:
If the user has created an account in OnSong 2020.10 or newer and has not purchased an OnSong Premium subscription, the base tier of the user account is set to OnSong Pro. This means the user can sign into OnSong 2024.6 and newer and access their Pro features.
Opening OnSong 2020.10 with Email Registration:
If you’ve previously registered your email address with OnSong but never created an account, OnSong will automatically create an account for that email address with the Pro base tier. You can then sign into that account using a newer version of OnSong by resetting the password to access Pro features.
TODO: Updating Existing Account with Base Plan:
If the user has an existing account, OnSong 2020.10 and newer will automatically update the base plan to Pro allowing those users always to fall back to Pro features on newer versions of OnSong 2024.6 and newer.
Download OnSong 2024:
Open your app store, and search for OnSong 2024. Once OnSong 2024 is installed, you can then go into your OnSong 2024 app—> Tap on the Gear Icon—> Account—> Sign In.
What is the OnSong Pro User Interface?
When the Pro tier is being used in OnSong 2024.6 and newer, the OnSong 2020 user interface style is used instead of the modern user interface. This includes the following changes:
- The songs menu features a tabbed interface with songs, artists, keys, topics, and sets.
- The add songs menu is not displayed in a separate window and omits the toggle control.
- The original share menu is displayed.
- The external video menu features the lyrics projection preview widget controls.
- The actions menu omits the shortcuts tabs.
- The additions menu uses the original annotations menu icon.
- The attachments menu is replaced with a song editor icon.
- The style preferences menu omits text formatting options.
- The style preferences menu omits song vs system font formatting.
- The style preferences menu does not permit toggling between renderer versions.
- The style preferences menu automatically enables the new renderer when using
multiple pages or columns. - The style preferences menu omits the left and right-oriented chord diagram options.
- The settings screen uses the original OnSong 2020 layout instead of the new one.
- The networking live bar button uses the original sharing interface.
This interface style will always be used when operating as the Pro base tier. If the user signs out to use the free version of OnSong, or signs in with an Essentials or Premium plan, they will see the modern interface changes. Those users can also switch between the 2020 (legacy) and 2024 (modern) versions of the user interface by going into Settings > About > System Information > User Interface and tapping to toggle between the two versions.
