While OnSong can import a variety of file types, it works best with text-based chord charts. This format lets you control not only how the song looks but also lets you customize how the song appears from a musical perspective. To change how your song appears on the screen, or transpose to a different key, tap on the sliders icon in the menubar. The sliders icon is located on the right side of the main menubar that appears that the top of OnSong when using an iPad. If you are using an iPhone or an iPod touch, it may be located in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
Once you tap on the sliders icon, the Style Preferences menu appears. Please note that at the bottom of this menu are three tabs that provide access to different aspects of the song's look and feel: Document, Format, and Chords. You can learn more about this menu in the Style Preferences Video Tutorial.
Tap on the Document Tab to access the font family used in the document, margins, and page layout options.
Tap on the Format Tab to access the font family and sizes or various components of the song as well as chord highlighting.
Tap on the Chords Tab to access transposition and capo features as well as configuring chord diagrams on your chart.
If you'd like to learn more about writing and editing text-based chord charts, please watch the Overview Tutorial Video and refer to the OnSong File Format or ChordPro File Format documentation.
