We've been hard at work updating OnSong to work with the latest operating system from Apple as well as adding new improvements in performance and some features that make OnSong the best app for musicians on the market.
iOS/iPadOS 15 Support
We've gone through every corner of OnSong and optimized it to work best with the latest operating systems from Apple. Not only did we resolve any reported issues and refined the user interface, but we've also implemented new context menus throughout the app to provide more intuitive access to the features you need. Just tap and hold to display a menu of options.
Low Light Mode
Just in time for Halloween, we've taken OnSong into total darkness! Now PDF files participate in low light mode too. Of course we've made a tutorial video to show you how it works and to go over some settings you can tweak to make everything work just as you like.
Better File Type Support
We didn't stop with just PDF files for low light mode either. If you use other imported file types like Microsoft Word, images, RTF, or HTML files – OnSong can now view those in low light mode too. We've accomplished this by automatically converting these file types into PDF files. This has the added benefit of allowing more performant and consistent viewing both in the app and within OnSong Console, as well as the ability to print these file types too.
A Name Change
You may have noticed that OnSong Pro has been renamed to OnSong 2020. Since this was a paid version of the OnSong app for years, you still have the same pro-level of features that you've come to know and love. If you've subscribed to OnSong Premium, you'll continue to unlock features we've added in this version. Literally, we've just changed the name.
So why did we change the name? We will be releasing a new version by the end of the year, OnSong 2021. This has a brand new architecture to support Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and makes significant changes to what you've come to know in OnSong 2020. So while we are continuing to support OnSong 2020, new things are coming and we are excited for the future of OnSong.
Performance and Improvements
We've tweaked the song viewer to be more responsive. You can now rotate the device screen and OnSong no longer redraws the screen to accommodate the new size. Of course that's not all. We've sped up saving changes in the editor and improved the drawing tool too. Of course there's too much to list here, so read the release notes.
