OnSong is designed to not just keep your music organized, but for use on stage. Typically when you perform, you want to have a list of songs which is called your set list, or "set" for short. These are the songs that you intend to play during an event for a specific segment. While this article covers a lot of bases, you can also learn more about managing sets in our Sets Tutorial Video.
To create sets, open the Songs Menu and then choose the Sets tab at the bottom right. This tab lets you organize your sets with Folders, but you should see a list of All Sets by default. Keep in mind that you can toggle between Active and Archived tabs at the bottom of that screen which is a way to keep too many sets from cluttering up your workspace.
You can create a set by tapping on the + button in the lower right to open the Set Editor. You can just tap Done to make a set with the current date as the name. You could also name your set, change the date, time, and other attributes. When you're done, you'll have a blank set list.
To add songs to your set, tap on the + button in the lower right corner of the Set List. If you have at least one book in your library, this will present a Book Picker. Once you pick a book, or if you don't have any books, the Song Picker will be displayed. Here you can select songs to add to your set. The order in which you pick these songs is the order that they will be added to your set. However, you can easily change the order of your set list when you are finished. Tap Done to add those selected songs to your set list.
You'll see the songs in the order you've picked them. To change the order, tap on the Edit button in the upper right corner to enter Editing Mode. You can then tap and drag on the reordering handle on the right side of each row to change the order of songs in your list. You could also tap on the name of the song to open the Actions Menu for additional functions. Finally, tap Done to save changes to your set list. You can also tap and drag the songs using drag and drop that was first introduced in iOS 11.
Adding more songs to your set is the same process, however there are some recent changes you may want to be aware of. Since late 2018, OnSong now adds songs you pick after the currently selected/viewed song. This is so you can more easily add songs quickly as you are playing through a set. Another change is that the song picker has been redesigned to allow you to pick songs multiple times for a set. Songs that have already been selected for the set or that have been picked for a set in the last 24 hours are displayed as greyed out. This doesn't mean you can't pick the song, but that you should think twice about it to avoid overplaying the song. Once you've picked your songs and tap Done, they are added to your existing set list in the order you picked them after the song that is currently being viewed.
If you want to pick songs like you could before this change was made, you can revert back to the original picking method. To do this, tap on the gear icon in the Menubar to open the Utilities Menu and then choose Settings. Tap on Menu Settings option on the left and then Songs on the right. Scroll down to the Sets section at the bottom and change Set Picking Mode to Original. This will then add newly picked songs to end of the set list and will not allow you to choose duplicates.
