The latest version of OnSong requires iOS/iPadOS 15 and higher to function. OnSong 2020 (also known as OnSong Pro, no longer available for purchase) requires iOS/iPadOS 14 and higher to function.
While we try to support operating system versions as long as possible, it becomes more and more difficult to support operating systems as technology advances. If you have an iPad 2nd, 3rd, or 4th generation device, or an original iPad Air, you may have found that you can no longer install new iOS updates. That means that you are locked to that version of the operating system.
Can I still use OnSong?
Yes! In fact, the version of OnSong that you have installed will keep running just as it always has. OnSong 2020.5 is the last version of OnSong to support iOS 9-12. It's a stable build as we wanted to ensure that you could use it for a long time.
Can I reinstall OnSong if I have to?
Yes! If you search the App Store for "OnSong" and try to install the app, you will probably be notified that they do not support your operating system. Instead, view your Account within the App Store app and locate the Purchases list. You should then find OnSong in the list with the last-known version that supports your operating system. You can then download and install the app from there. Previously, you would have found 2 apps: OnSong and OnSong Pro. OnSong Pro (aka OnSong 2020) is no longer available for purchase.
Will OnSong keep running on my device?
Since the operating system and the app version isn't changing, you should have a very stable experience as you've always had. Any new improvements and app updates would necessitate a new device and operating system. The only issue is if external apps or web services change. In that case, those services may stop working as we will not be able to support those services through a software update.
Is there a reason I should upgrade to a newer device?
There's a lot to be said about the phrase, "if it's not broken, don't fix it". If you're happy with what you're using, keep using it by all means! However, if you want to improve the performance on your device or have access to the latest features of iOS/iPadOS and OnSong, then you'll want to consider upgrading.
